Organization For Back To School

Saturday, August 23, 2014

Hi Everyone!
It is crazy to think that summer is winding down and in a few short weeks school will be starting up again! I am sad to see the summer go but also excited for the new year.

One of the things that I love is organizing. I know that during the school year, it can be difficult to stay organized, so I am going to share some of my best organizational tips with all of you today!

I am the kind of person that never goes to sleep without picking out my clothes for the next day. I always check the weather at night and then pick out my clothes. This year, I am going to try something a little different. I am going to pick out all of my clothes for the week on Sunday night. On Saturdays, Sundays and days off, I don't really lay my clothes out unless I have somewhere to go early in the morning. I am going to use these hanger signs to make special hangers to hang my clothes for the week. I think that this saves so much time in the morning, and even if it gives me an extra five minutes to sleep I am happy. I always see a difference in the "morning rush" when I don't lay out my clothes the night before.
These special days of the week hangers make it easy to lay out your clothes for the week. I use the Real Simple slimline hangers from Bed, Bath and Beyond in my closet. I just cut and laminated the hanger signs and added a cute ribbon.
This was my Monday outfit for the week, I hang the entire outfit on the hanger and put them all in a separate spot in my closet.

Another thing that is really great to help you stay organized is a meal planner. You can choose to use it for packing lunches, making dinner or both. There is a spot so that you can write all of your meals for the week and another spot where you can write a shopping list so you can get everything you need to make these meals. This way you know what you are making and you are sure that you have all of the ingredients before the week even starts. I like to use a picture frame for the meal planner because I can use it week after week with a dry erase marker and it looks really nice in the kitchen. Of course, you can also print out a new copy every week and use it like that. The frame I used was 8x10 inches, so I changed the scale to 95% when I printed the meal planner.
Here is an example of how the meal planner can be used in a frame.

The last thing is something that is really important for me, personally, to stay organized. I use a planner every day. I have an Erin Condren planner that I love, but I also use these weekly planning pages. I write down EVERYTHING that I have to do that day from laundry to math homework due to go to the gym. I cross things out once they are done and then once everything is done for the day, I put a big X through the box so that I know I accomplished all of the things that I wanted to for the day. I try to finish everything each day but some days it is just not possible so I add it to the list for the next day. You could also use the picture frame for this, I just prefer not to.

Who Am I?

Monday, August 18, 2014

Hi everyone!
Today I am linking up with Blog Hoppin for "Who Monday".

I wanted to share some things about myself that you might not know.
Here is a picture of me from a few weeks ago in Venice, Italy.
I love to travel! I have been to Italy twice and it is amazing, I also LOVE cruising.

I have the cutest 12 year old chocolate lab ever. He is pretty much blind now, ignore his eyes in this picture; I promise they don't look like this in real life!

Although I am still in college, this will be my ninth year working in a kindergarten classroom. I am so lucky that my mom is an amazing kindergarten teacher, I learned so much from her and she lets me help her with stuff for school both at home and in school.
Here is a picture of my mom and I.
My mom is starting a teaching blog as well. Click here to see her new blog.

Here are ten things about me.

If you have a blog and participated in "Who Monday", add your link in the comments so that I can read all about you! If you don't have a blog, leave a fun fact about yourself in the comments.

A Fishy Freebie

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Hey everyone,
Welcome to my new blog! I am so excited to start sharing all kinds of ideas on this new space. If you are new, my name is Megan Shea, I am a college education student in NY. Although I am not a teacher yet, teaching is a huge passion of mine. I have been working daily in a kindergarten classroom for eight years and love it. My mom is an amazing kindergarten teacher (you can find her here), and I learned so much from watching her teach. I have a shop on Teachers Pay Teachers where I have a ton of products for kindergarten. I used to blog on Little Miss Teacher, but I was ready to move on to this new space. I want to make this new blog more fun and useful for teachers or anyone! The majority of my posts will be related to teaching, but I am also going to have some fun fashion and lifestyle posts as well.

I am so excited that it is summer (I can't believe it is almost over)! I have already been to the Teachers Pay Teachers conference in Las Vegas (which was amazing!) and got to collaborate and get tips and ideas from a ton of awesome teachers. I also went on a huge European cruise and it was awesome (more to come on that). Aside from the trips I have been tutoring and working at a camp for incoming kindergarteners and I can't believe it is over already! This was a very cute and funny group of kids, I can't wait to see them again when they come to kindergarten in September!

One of the themes for the camp was an "under the sea" theme. We read The Rainbow Fish and each kid got to make a cute Rainbow Fish project. They came out really great! I wanted to share the project with all of you for free. This is a great project for summer camps or in school whenever you read the book. You are welcome to download this freebie and use it in your classroom, the kids loved it! Click the photo below to access the freebie.

Thanks for reading! I will be back soon!
