Peek At My Week: Third Week!

Sunday, September 20, 2015

Today, I am linking up with Mrs. Wills Kindergarten for A Peek at My Week!

This has been a crazy few weeks, this is our third week of school. We still haven't had a full week of school. It feels like we have already been in school for months!
Every year, we forget how difficult the beginning of kindergarten really is.
The kid are super sweet, but they are still babies at this time of the year.
We have been trying to get them into the routine and they are adjusting nicely, but it takes so long to do things! We had all of these plans for the beginning of the year, and basically got none of it done.
This week we are trying to stick to more of a schedule. We haven't been able to start a lot of the things that we like to do, but this week we are going to slowly jump in.

Here is what we are doing this week (We have Wednesday off for Yom Kippur):

Here are the resources that we are using this week (Click the cover to get to the product page):

The poetry that we are doing is from DeeDee Wills, we are so excited to start this week!

Classroom Tour 2015

Wednesday, September 2, 2015

Yesterday was our kindergarten orientation and it was a great day!
We made a lot of changes to our classroom this year and are loving the way that it looks!
We are not completely finished yet, there are still some things to organize and things to label, but we are so close!
Instead of waiting until the classroom was 100% finished to take photos (because really I don't know when that will be), I decided to take the pictures yesterday before the kids came in for orientation.

Here is the room as you walk in:

These cute numbers are right next to our bathroom.

Unfortunately, this room has very limited storage. We have to make the most of what we have, these shelves are pretty organized with craft stuff, supplies, etc.

We just put these cute numbers on the clock, I love the way it turned out!

I got this awesome idea from Maria Manore from KinderCraze. This is one thing that we haven't changed this year.

This is our front board. The pocket chart will be for poetry. Next to it is out wish list that we had up during orientation (the wish list is from Kim Adsit).
This is our supply/art shelf. The bottom two rows labels will be changed soon so that they match the other labels.

This is my new favorite area of the room! We moved the library this year and it is so cute over here! Along with the library area, this will also be where we have our center chart.

Here are our cubbies as you walk in.

This will be our calendar/rug area. On the right is a frame for our anchor charts. The top says "What are we learning?", it has room for 2 pocket charts. On the left, we have our calendar, we will be adding more (sight words, ten frames, etc.). I will take an updated picture as we finish it.

This is our frequently used supply area. We have our poetry journals, math notebooks, rise and shine books, reading journals, math manipulatives, markers and colored pencils.

This is mostly the toys that the kids can play with during free choice, there are also some math manipulatives.

This is one of those areas that we are definitely not done with yet. I have new labels for all of those book bins, the top still has our pillows stored away for summer and a lot of extra bins are just hanging out on the side. This area still needs some work.

Thanks for checking out our classroom! I will be sure to post an update once it is completely done!
