We have another exciting week coming up! St. Patrick's Day week is a lot of fun in kindergarten..

The weather is finally getting a little warmer here, I actually saw some grass this week! We had our first full week of school in a long time this week and hopefully it will continue.


Here is what we are doing this week:

We will use my March Teacher Time Saver for our morning work every day.

This week we are studying letter Ee. We use these alphabet activities each week as we study the letters.

We are working on some activities for blends this week.

Fridays we try to do some activities that are fun. We will be doing a stamping activity during our ELA time on Friday. Our kids love stamping.

We use activities from this guided reading pack for our guided reading groups each week. The kids love the magic reading wands and we use the books as well.

We will be doing some math activities with Lucky Charms this week! So much fun!

My absolute favorite resource, is my Interactive Math Notebook. I have started doing themed interactive notebook pages and we will be using some St. Patrick's Day themed pages this week. 

We will be doing these fun St. Patrick's Day centers this week as well!

Lucky Charms Math

This week we did a super fun math activity, Lucky Charms Addition!
The kids absolutely loved doing math with Lucky Charms and really did a great job!

We worked on addition this past week, so this addition page was perfect.

Next week we will be doing Number Bonds and possibly decomposing numbers depending on how much time we have. I still took pictures of all of the pages so you could see them with the Lucky Charms.

Adding food to any activity will make it more fun, but the Lucky Charms right around St. Patrick's Day was awesome! They were so excited that they got to eat the Lucky Charms after!

Peek At My Week: Penguins!

We have an exciting week coming up! We will be studying penguins!
Usually we study penguins in January, but we had too many breaks with snow days and delays, so we never got a chance to do our penguin study.
Since it is still super snowy with no sign of spring coming, we decided that it is not too late to do our penguin study this week.

We are working on some simple CVC activities this week.

Fridays we try to do some activities that are fun. We will be doing a stamping activity during our ELA time on Friday. Our kids love stamping.

The most exciting part of our week will be this penguin research set. We will be doing a ton of fun penguin activities this week!

We will be doing this easy penguin project on Friday!

My absolute favorite resource, the Interactive Math Notebook. We will be working on addition this week, there are some super fun addition activities that we will be doing this week.

We will be doing these fun penguin centers this week as well! These are centers that we never got to in January, so we decided they would be perfect for our penguin study this week.

Reading Week Fun!

We had an absolutely crazy week with snow this week. With delays and snow days, they only time that we had to celebrate Reading Week was today! I love doing fun Reading Week themed activities, but unfortunately we didn't get to that many this year.

First we made this fun cat project. The kids really enjoyed making their own cats.

Next we did this hat word family paper. We made a list of words as a class, then the kids wrote their own words on their hats. After they were done, I had them write a sentence about their favorite word on a sentence strip. They did a really great job!

Lastly we did this awesome directed drawing from First Grade Blue Skies. I LOVED this. The kids were so focused and quiet while they were doing this. They came out really cute as well. I am definitely going to do more directed drawing in the future. The kids were all so impressed with themselves!

We also read a few books and watched a video while we were having snack. Hopefully next year we will have less winter weather and will be able to celebrate Reading Week more.

Our 100th Day of Kindergarten!

Friday we celebrated our 100th day of school! It was a great day, we did a ton of fun activities!

We have each child make a 100th day hat at home with their families. They all wear the hats on the 100th day of school. Each hat has 100 items on it. They got really creative this year, they were all adorable.

Here are some of the cute hats that our kids made:

First we did a read and write the room for 100 words. The kids had a great time searching for words around the room. They were shocked that there were so many words around the room!

We also did a 100th day trail mix. We had 10 different snacks and the children each sorted out 10 of each snack for their mix. The kids loved this and so did we! This was our first time making the trail mix and we will definitely be continuing this in the future. 

Usually we make 100 pancakes on the 100th day and the kids try to eat 100 pancakes. This was a lot of fun but we are not allowed to cook at school anymore, the trail mix was a great substitute though!

We did a project with the numbers 1 0 0. We cut out the numbers on black construction paper with the die cut machine. Each child got a 1, and two 0s. They got creative and used the numbers to create anything they could think of. I made a bunch of samples and showed them, which I kind-of wish I didn't do. Almost all of our kids chose to do things that I did in my samples, although some of them did get really creative.

This little cutie was SO proud of his race car. He made me take 3 different pictures, after adding a new detail each time!

This little guy is always super creative. His idea was "a key going into a lock". I would have never thought of doing that!

We also make $100 bills for each kid. Several years ago, my mom found a $100 bill cut out in a Sleepy's ad, we have been using the same one every year since then. I printed pictures of the kids on the computer, glued the picture between the front and back of the bill and laminated them. We hid them around the room and the kids found their own bill. They loved this and had a great time! They were so excited to find theirs!

We also do another 100th day hunt, we hide 100 Hershey kisses around the room with numbers on the bottom. The kids find one at a time and put it on the matching number on a hundred chart.

We had a great day! It went so fast, we had so many more activities planned that we never got a chance to do.
